Crumbs: My newest app addition
I bought the Household domain a long time ago and wanted to build something to capture all the chores I need to do at home. Chores pile up so much as you age, you could literally spend weekends doing them. There are tons of apps that serve each purpose, but I wanted to build bite-sized apps to focus on smaller tasks linked by the same household.
I launched Houshold Finance first to keep track of budgets. The next app I launched was Household Tasks, to help keep track of chores and cleaning schedules. The new addition to these apps is Household Crumbs which manages recipes and meal plans.
This one I’m a little more proud of, since it integrates really well with my workflow. We have so many recipes shared over Instagram and Youtube link, sometimes it’s super hard to even keep track of them. And a ritual we do on weekends is grocery planning + figuring out what meals to be made over the next week.
The main challenge in my opinion is building the Grocery list functionality to be more multiplayer. I’m planning to leverage SSE and keep household connections to allow for clients to sync this data correctly. I’ll write about this more once I find it working pretty well. My time is currently being spent on adding cleaning schedule functionality to Tasks. That app is in a slightly less competitive space, giving me more room to work on product improvements.
But Crumbs is ready for user acquisition. Running ads on it to find out what the CPI will be. I imagine it’s super high given it’s in the same category as Crouton and other recipe planners.
The final app in the collection of households is going to be dedicated to plants! Managing backyard and indoor plants will finally be the last piece of tracking we do at home manually for now. Once this is done, I think Household will be complete and contain most pieces of tracking that I use frequently.
